According
to American society of cancer research Cellular (cell) phones first
became widely available in the United States in the 1990s, but their use has
increased dramatically since then. Along with the large and still growing
number of cell phone users (both adults and children), the amount of time people
spend on their phones has also risen sharply in recent decades.
Cell
phones (including smartphones) give off a form of energy known as radiofrequency
(RF) waves, so some concerns have been raised about the safety of cell
phone use. With respect to cancer, concern focuses on whether cell phones might
increase the risk of brain tumors or other tumors in the head and neck area.
Do Phones, And Particularly
Smartphones Cause Cancer?
So,
the indications are that they don't. Most of the research that has been carried
out so far hints that phones do emit radiation because of the radio waves but
it is not strong enough to damage DNA and any other orgains. But with that
said, the current wisdom regarding smartphones and cancer is based on the fact
that so far no direct link has been found yet between cancer smartphones. Yet.
This is the key word. It is known that phones are carcinogenic. It's just that
radiation from them is not strong enough to fry DNA.
Here
are some simple precautions you can take to reduce exposure to electronic
device radiation:
1.
Keeping your cell phone as far away from your ear and body as
possible at all times.
2.
Switch off cell phone and take away from your bed next to your
head.
3.
According To World Health Organization (WHO) the intensity of
radiofrequency and radiation from cell phones deceases exponentially the
further the device is held away from body.
4.
Connect to the Internet with an Ethernet cord, not a wireless
router, whenever possible.
5.
Text instead of calling whenever possible. The farther your phone
is from your body, the better.
